HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,
My HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 displays the error code B8156B0C or B8156BOC as soon as it tries to print the forced alignment page during setup. Since this seems to be a known problem with the HP OfficeJet Pro product line, I have already done the following steps to solve the problem:

Resetting the printer: unsuccessful, problem persists
Updating the firmware: unsuccessful, problem persists (the printer is on the latest firmware 002.2428A)
Several attempts with removing the ink and disconnecting the printer from the power supply: unsuccessful, problem persists

I hope that someone here in the forum or from HP has another, hopefully successful, solution.

Hi @Baldrian,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’ve already tried several effective troubleshooting steps for the error code B8156B0C on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010. This error is often related to issues with the printhead or ink system. Since your attempts so far haven’t resolved the issue, here are some additional steps you can try:

1. Check and Clean the Printhead

Remove the Printhead:

  • Open the printer’s front door to access the printhead and ink cartridges.
  • Carefully remove the ink cartridges and then the printhead itself.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Gently clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Avoid using tap water or any abrasive materials.
  • Let the printhead dry completely before reassembling.

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Once the printhead is dry, reinsert it into the printer and reinsert the ink cartridges.

2. Inspect Ink Cartridges and Printhead Carriage

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are properly seated and that no protective tape remains on the cartridges.
  • Look for any visible damage or leaks.

Inspect Printhead Carriage:

  • Ensure the printhead carriage moves smoothly and is not obstructed. Check for any paper jam or foreign objects inside the carriage area.

3. Run Printer Diagnostic Tools

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Use the app to run diagnostics and troubleshoot the printer. The app may provide additional guidance or solutions.
  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can help identify and fix printer issues.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Perform a factory reset of the printer through the printer’s menu. This option is usually found in the Settings or Setup menu under Printer Maintenance or a similar section.
  • Although you have updated the firmware, if possible, try reinstalling it or check if there’s a newer version available.

5. Check for Mechanical Issues:

  • Check the paper path and rollers for any obstructions or damage. Clear any paper jams or debris.
  • Listen for any unusual noises when the printer attempts to print. Grinding or clicking sounds might indicate a mechanical issue

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
