I am getting the error message Error Code OXB8042326, and I have read other posts where it says to remove the printer cartridges as part of the process.  However the cartridges are over to the far right of the printer, under the edge of the housing and I cannot get the printer cartridges out or move them to where I can remove them.  Is there a way to manually move the print head while the printer is offline (which is what is showing on HP Smart) or off so that I can remove the cartridges?

This suddenly happened one night while the printer was asleep and not being used.

Thank you

My apologies, the model is the HP OfficeJet 5220.

I have already carried out the steps you mention above, but this has made no difference, the error code is still there.  I also read the suggestion to remove the print cartridges during this process, but as I outline in my original post, the print cartridges are right over on the far right of the printer, under some of the housing and cannot be moved to a position that they can be removed.  I am asking if there is a way to manually move the print head along so that I can remove the cartridges.

My printer is still under warranty and this error suddenly occurred at night while the printer was asleep and not being used.

@LibraryKath Here's a few other things you can do:

Step 1: Check the error

In addition to the alphanumeric code, look for an error message that describes the problem.

NOTE:

Not all alphanumeric codes begin with 0x; some begin with B or C.

  • If the message contains a description and an alphanumeric error code, the steps in this document do not apply. Search HP Customer Support for a troubleshooting document that matches the description you see.

Example of an error message with additional text that describes the problem

  • If the message contains only the error code, continue to the next step.

Example of an error code without a description

Remove the ink cartridges and reset the printer.

  1. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  6. Turn the printer on.

  7. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration or alignment page, do so.

Let me know how that pans out,

1. It is just the error code as listed in the subject - there is no other message.

2.  As I have stated in BOTH of my messages above, I have tried to remove the print cartridges following the instructions above repeatedly.  This is not possible because the print head and cartridges are on the far right of the printer, underneath the housing where they cannot be removed.  I am unable to move the print head out of this position to be able to get the cartridges out.  Again, I am asking is there a manual way to move the print head so that I can remove the cartridges.

Again, this printer is under warranty and this issue happened when the printer was in sleep mode and not being used.
