I like the idea of leaving on the front door of HP... maybe it is the best possible use of these printers!

I called HP support and they told me that the problem is with the printer and not the firmware and that they will give me a voucher to spend at HP. So first HP breaks my printer with a malicious firmware and then forces me to buy a new one with a voucher. This is the scam of the century!

Strange that we all experienced this “printer failure” at the same time…

I'm still waiting to hear back from my HP contact. No luck yet. I'm not going to let this thread die though. It's going to be 1200 pages long, even if I have to write a script to post periodically, lol.

Any chance you could share the phone number? Multiple calls for the same issue may have a better response?

Agree K-Med. Even though this forum is unlikely read by anyone outside this "troubled group," it's still out in the public for all to see.

I wish Louis Rossman would cover this (https://www.youtube.com/@rossmanngroup

I'll shoot him an email to a link to this thread.

It really is absurd. And I will keep posting until it's resolved as well. This control-freak nature of the printers has to stop. They'll never be able to stop how people buy their cartridges. Well, off course, if they lowered the cost of their OEM cartridges they could actually control the market then. But they don't want to.

@H411 At this point, it's just about the principal for me. I have enough means to get a new printer, but I'm pretty pissed off about how they didn't handle this.

I have had success working with @HPSupport on the X platform (formerly Twitter).  By success I mean we are actively communicating on the issue.  If you have posted to @HPSupport be sure to send a DM when they reply with their canned response.  The more this is brought to their attention the more likely the firmware will be recognized as the problem.

Snip of some of the discussion that illustrates the need for more people to get involved.

Me:  At the very least HP should issue the previous firmware with a new date code so this can be corrected while the 20250209 firmware is reviewed.  I can't imagine how many users are assuming their printers are at fault because of this.

HPSupportWe will review it in case there are many users reporting the same issue. Please confirm the country name you are contacting us from.

@shippingguy - I forwarded a tweet directly to hpsupport. I mentioned previously I don't use socials but I'll check to see if they respond. At this point I just want a refund because I already bought a new printer. You know the feeling when you get a bad taste in your mouth about a company like this? But I still want to see this through.
