On the phone with HP now - getting the runaround "out of warranty" nonsense. Why can't they get their facts lined up? Do I need a big Twitter account with 1M followers to get any action or results? So frustrating.

PS - only 500 pages printed and "out of warranty" by less than 2 months.

This is infuriating. Absolutely crazy.

Now HP Support on X/Twitter is offering a replacement, but want to charge me $10 for it. If I weren't so outraged, I'd find this is absolutely hilarious:

Thank you for sharing the details. We have the Standard shipping, In this option we will ship you out replacement printer, and you need to use the same box to send us the defective printer, return label will be provided, however there will be a collateral payment of $10.00 that needs to be completed for order to be placed as the unit is out of warranty. Let me know if we can proceed with this. Looking forward to your reply!

Update: NO RESOLUTION FOR THOSE out of warranty. I got canned responses and all sort of other nonsense. Then saying it is out of warranty nothing in their policy to rectify. I asked "does you policy say what to do when it is HP's fault that my printer is bricked?" (crickets).

All I got was a "case number" and some statement that they'll get back to me if they find a solution.

The only solution is a refund or a new printer.

So fed up.

Funny I had to provide only $1 which even pisses me off. They seem to be all over the place with no real leadership. Seems a internal memo would have been posted with how this would be handled across the board.

Update from HP Support on X/Twitter! 👇

We understand you concern. However, the 1$ that you are charged is for security and it will be refunded back. We are sorry about the typo it is 1$. Regards, HP Support

I got a different canned response:

"We understand your frustration with the firmware update (20250209) that has caused your MFP M235DW printer to display Error 11 and become unusable. We appreciate your patience while we investigate this matter. We will contact you as soon as we have more information or require further details."

Now it appears it's back to $10, but apparently refundable 🤔

We are sorry about that. We have cross checked and it will be 10$ and the same will be refunded. Regards, HP Support

Well to late I already authorized $1 to them and have confirmation number.

For me the total came to $10.89. HP's explanation 👇🏽

Thats right. It depends on the printer value. Thank you. Yes, it shall be refunded. Please confirm if you have a Visa, Master, Discover or AMEX cards.
