I had a problem someone else had on here recently.

I bought a HP DeskJet 4222e and can’t even set it up due to an E8 error. I’ve also tried doing multiple suggested restart procedures including the suggestion of someone who works at HP in one of the other questions by doing a hard reset by unplugging the printer cord while it’s still on.

I would love some help with this because I’ve exhausted all my searching abilities :))

Hi @Daisymetal

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The E8 error on your HP DeskJet 4222e typically indicates a hardware issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve it:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can help clear temporary errors.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open all access doors and inspect the paper path for any jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any stuck paper carefully.

3. Inspect Ink Cartridges

  • Remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them securely.
  • Ensure the cartridges are compatible with your printer model.

4. Update Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer.

5. Reset Printer Settings

  • Access the printer's settings menu and look for an option to restore defaults or reset settings.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
