HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

I was out of town and came home to an error code.

ERROR CODE

0X80000924

UNDERCROFT C

I cannot get the ink cartridges out because they don't move to the middle when I open the printer.

Hi @samkwilson,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the error codes 0x80000924 and Undercroft C on your HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer typically indicate a firmware issue or a mechanical malfunction. Here's how to troubleshoot this problem:

Steps to Resolve the Issue

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the printer from the power source and disconnect any USB cables.
  3. Wait for at least 3 minutes.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

Since the ink cartridges don't move, there might be a jam or obstruction:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the printer cover and gently inspect the paper path and cartridge area for any debris or jammed paper.
  3. If you find any obstructions, carefully remove them.

3. Manually Move the Cartridge Carriage

If the cartridges don't move automatically, you can try moving them manually:

  1. With the printer unplugged, open the top cover to access the ink cartridge area.
  2. Gently push or pull the cartridge carriage to the center.
    • Do not force it if it resists or feels stuck.
    • If the carriage is stuck, check again for any small pieces of paper or debris.

4. Update the Firmware

If the printer turns on but displays the error code, you may be able to update the firmware:

  1. Visit the HP Software and Drivers page.
  2. Download the latest firmware for the HP ENVY 5055.
  3. Follow the installation instructions on your computer to update the firmware.

5. Perform a Factory Reset

  1. Turn on the printer and go to the Setup or Menu options on the printer screen.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Restore Settings > Restore Factory Defaults.
  3. Confirm the reset.

Important Notes

  • Do not try to forcefully remove the cartridges as it could damage the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
