Good morning! For the first time (new printer installed on 03/04/2022) I had the following problem: after having commanded the printing of a document, the printer, before printing it, stopped with the display indicating E4 Error, and HP Smart indicated Paper Jam. The problem was that there was no paper jammed, although I looked both inside and under the printer. I tried turning it off and on again (but I only succeeded by unplugging the power cord), and after commanding the print again, this time the display still indicated E4, but the HP Smart reported a problem with the cartridges, despite having checked them and apparently they had no problems. Finally I tried to press the key indicated by a red X and the print has finally started. What can be the cause of all this?

@Angelot
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting a paper jam error, I am glad to assist you.
Reset the printer
- Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

I followed your advice, thanks, and also tried to restore the factory settings, and to uninstall and reinstall HpSmart and the driver, but it was all in vain: now the printer remains in the condition to report the E4 error (but there is no jammed paper) even after hearing it and turning it back on: in other words: it is unusable. Any other suggestions? Attached is a picture of the locked printer.
