HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I've had this printer for several years, has worked fine. But after successfully printing a recent large document I got the E4 printer jam error. I cleared a piece of paper on the spindle. But it still give me the error. When I press green arrow with rolls out one and a half pages and stops. It I press the red X stop it does the same. When I restart it (both button and. unplugging) it produces this loud unusual noise on the right side of printer and then generates the error Video of Error

Hi @Sapofrito, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E4 error on your HP ENVY Pro 6455 indicates a paper jam, but since you've already cleared the visible jam and the printer still has issues, here are some additional steps to resolve it:

Check for Hidden Paper Jams

  • Open the rear access door and check for small torn pieces of paper.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect the carriage path for any obstructions.
  • Gently move the carriage left and right to see if it moves freely.

Reset the Printer

Since you've tried a basic restart, try this hard reset:

  1. Unplug the printer while it's ON.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds (if applicable).
  4. Plug it back in and power it on.

Inspect the Rollers

The loud noise suggests that the rollers or gears may be stuck:

  • Open the paper input tray and look inside for jammed paper.
  • Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

Run Printer Diagnostics

  • Use HP Smart App on macOS to run a self-diagnostic test.
