If you're experiencing issues with your HP DeskJet 2700e printer, and all lights are flashing with an error message "EE," you may need to follow some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. Here are some steps you can try:

  1. Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. Check if the issue persists.
  2. Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer's access door and check for any paper jams. Remove any jammed paper carefully. Make sure there are no obstructions inside the printer that might be causing the issue.
  3. Inspect for Obstructions: Ensure that there are no foreign objects (such as paper clips or bits of paper) blocking the printer's mechanism. Also, check the ink cartridge area for any obstructions.
  4. Reset the Printer: Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, disconnecting the power cord, and holding the power button down for 15 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  5. Update Firmware: Visit the official HP website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model. If yes, download and install the latest firmware to see if it resolves the issue.
  6. Check Ink Cartridges: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and are not empty. If they are low on ink or empty, replace them with new cartridges.
  7. Inspect for Hardware Issues: If the issue persists, there may be a hardware problem. Check the printer for any visible damage or issues with the internal components.

My Deskjet 2700 has flashing lights and icons, in the window, and I have tried all the above suggestions and none of them work after a couple of days.

I have also noticed that a lot of people, in the community with the same Deskjet 2700 model as I have, are having the same issues as me, flashing lights and icons with an EE error and none of the suggestions have helped them. I'm wondering if the problem is with the printer itself.

Hello @wynford , how are you ?

Once you have tried the procedures below and the fault remains, the fault is indeed with the printer:

I'm doing great... thanks

The problem is with the EE error code and there is no explanation as to what it is anywhere on the internet, if there was, it could probably be fixed easily. Pressing the power button temporarily stops the flashing.

I only said maybe a problem with the printer itself because so many people are experiencing the same thing.

The lights and icons are flashing again so I thought I would try the diagnose and fix), in the HP Smart app,  (the wrench), (while the lights were flashing and there were no problems found. I did clean the color cartridge a few days ago.
