HP Office 6950
Microsoft Windows 11

I am trying to print from an app (Jepp View), from a Windows 11 Dell  computer to my HP6950. I keep getting a printer error message. I can successfully print to my HP Envy. I have used the HP Print Doctor which shows no problem. I have also removed and reinstalled my  HP 6950 using HP Smart. Still shows a printer error. All ideas on how to fix this welcome !

@AndyH65, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Error on HP6950 with Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To resolve the printer error message on your HP OfficeJet 6950 when printing from the Jepp View app on Windows 11, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Printer Connectivity

  1. Ensure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. Verify that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Restart your printer and modem/router. Sometimes a network reset can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer Status

  1. Check that the HP OfficeJet 6950 is turned on and not showing any error messages on its control panel.
  2. Ensure there is no paper jam or low ink level warning.

Update Printer Driver

  1. Remove the printer from Windows.
    • Go to Printers & scanners in Windows settings.
    • Select the HP OfficeJet 6950 and click Remove device.
  2. Reinstall the HP Smart App.
    • Open the HP Smart app and add the printer again.
  3. Install the latest print driver.
    • Download and install the latest driver from the HP website.

Print with HP Universal Print Application (HP UPA)

The HP Universal Print Application is an optimized print driver solution for Windows 11.

Installation and Setup

  1. Install HP Smart App: Download and install HP Smart from Microsoft Store.
  2. Add your printer: Open the HP Smart app, click Add Printer, and follow the setup prompts.
  3. Ensure HP UPA is installed: HP UPA installs automatically with HP Smart app. You can verify its presence via Printers & scanners > Open printer app.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Zoey,

Thank you for your reply. I have now tried all your suggested fixes but sadly none of them work. Can you please suggest something else for me to try ?

@AndyH65, Thanks for giving those steps a try, and I’m sorry they didn’t do the trick.

Let’s dig a little deeper:

1. Try Printing from Another App:
Since Jepp View is the only app causing this issue, try printing a test page or from another app (like Word or Notepad). If that works, the issue may be app-specific.

2. Run Jepp View as Administrator:
Right-click the Jepp View icon > Run as administrator > Try printing again. Sometimes, permissions can interfere with print commands.

3. Change the Default Print Processor:

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers

Right-click HP 6950 > Printer Properties

Under Advanced > click Print Processor

Select WinPrint and RAW

Click OK and try printing again

4. Try Printing via USB (if possible):
This will help isolate if it’s a network vs. driver issue.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
