Try these troubleshooting steps:

Reset the Printer

  • Power Off: Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect: Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  • Power On: Turn the printer back on.

Check for Obstructions

Ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer.

  • Access Carriage Area: Open the printer's access door to view the carriage.
  • Inspect: Look for any debris or obstructions.
  • Clear: If found, gently remove them.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Open Access Door: Lift the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove Cartridges: Press the tab on each cartridge to release and remove it.
  • Inspect: Check for protective tape or packaging; remove if present.
  • Reinstall: Insert each cartridge back into its slot until it clicks into place.
  • Close Door: Lower the access door.

Clean the Printhead

  • Access Cleaning Function: From the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  • Initiate Cleaning: Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Test Print: After cleaning, print a test page to check for improvements.

Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause operational issues.

  • Visit HP Support: Go to the HP OfficeJet 8014e support page.
  • Download Firmware: Find and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
  • Install: Follow the provided instructions to update the firmware.

Restore Factory Defaults

Resetting to factory settings can resolve persistent issues.

  • Access Settings: On the printer's touchscreen, swipe down to open the dashboard.
  • Navigate: Select Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm: Choose Restore Factory Defaults and then Continue.
  • Wait: The printer will restart automatically.
