@Seattle-Sam, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0xB836883A you're encountering on your HP printer typically indicates a firmware glitch or internal system error. While this may appear occasionally, it's important to ensure your printer's firmware and internal components are functioning correctly to prevent recurring issues.

Perform a Power Reset

This helps clear temporary firmware faults.

  • Turn the printer ON, if it’s not already.
  • With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug the other end from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer back ON and check if the error reappears.

Update Printer Firmware

Firmware updates resolve known bugs and improve performance.

  • Visit the HP support page.
  • Enter your printer model (e.g., HP OfficeJet, DeskJet, ENVY, etc.).
  • Download and install the latest Firmware Update Utility for your printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Factory Reset (Optional if error persists)

If the above steps don’t resolve it:

On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Note: This will erase any custom settings (e.g., Wi-Fi password, fax settings).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
