Hi @RonPB,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 49 on an HP LaserJet printer typically indicates a firmware error. This error can have various causes, including corrupted print jobs, network issues, or problems with the printer's firmware itself. Here's what you can do to try and correct it.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes clear the error if it was caused by a temporary issue.
- Clear Print Queue: If you suspect a corrupted print job is causing the error, clear the print queue on your computer. Go to the print queue and cancel any pending print jobs. Then try printing a test page to see if the error is resolved.
- Check Network Connections: If your printer is on a network, make sure the network cables and connections are secure. If it's a wireless printer, ensure it's properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Update Firmware: Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause errors. Visit the HP website and check for any firmware updates for your specific printer model. If there's an update available, follow the instructions to update the printer's firmware.
- Remove Additional Memory: If your printer has additional memory modules installed, try removing them and see if the error is resolved. Faulty memory modules can sometimes trigger this error.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer to restore it to its default settings. Be aware that this will erase any custom settings or configurations, so use this option with caution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
