I have an officejet 8025. Event code 71.02.4A. I have turned off and and on. Unplugged both from printer and wall. Reset defaults. Print cartridges all the way to right so I can’t reach them to change them or clean printhead.

I  see no obstruction on the carrier. The carrier ribbon is intact. What else should I do?

thanks

Hello LSH_LSH-1,

Thank you for posting your concern,

HP OfficeJet 8025: Event Code 71.02.4A Troubleshooting

The event code 71.02.4A is generally related to communication issues or a stall within the printer. Below are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Firmware Update:

    • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can download firmware updates from the HP website. Updating the firmware can resolve many known issues.
  2. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn the printer off, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
    • Turn the printer on and check if the issue persists.
  3. Check and Clean the Printhead:

    • Since the cartridge carrier is on the right and you can't access it, you might need to perform a semi-full reset.
    • If the printer allows you to bring the cartridges to the center (usually through the printer's maintenance menu), carefully remove them and clean the printhead with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  4. Inspect for Paper Jams:

    • Check the printer thoroughly for any small bits of paper or debris that may not be immediately visible but could cause a jam.
  5. Check for Mechanical Obstructions:

    • Open all access doors and inspect for any mechanical issues such as obstructions or broken parts.
  6. Perform a Semi-Full Reset:

    • A semi-full reset may help resolve a range of issues by restoring the printer to its default settings.
    • Access to this type of reset is specific to HP service information and typically involves a key combination on the control panel.
    • Unfortunately, the detailed step-by-step instructions are not available to the general public and may require contacting HP Support for precise guidance.
  7. Contact HP Support:

    • If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to HP Support. They might provide more specific instructions or recommend servicing the printer.
