Hi @tmc9,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out to HP Support regarding the error code 0xB8E91BCA on your HP ENVY 5052 printer. This error typically relates to a printer communication or hardware issue, often connected to firmware, network connection, or device status.

Step-by-Step Reset for HP Envy 5052

  1. Turn on the printer (if it’s not already on).
  2. Wait until it becomes idle and silent.
  3. Remove the ink cartridges carefully.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on.
  5. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  6. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  7. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  8. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  9. Turn the printer back on (if it doesn’t turn on automatically).
  10. Wait for the printer to go through its startup and warm-up cycle.
  11. Reinsert the ink cartridges when prompted or once the printer is idle.

If the Error Persists:

  • Try updating the printer firmware via the HP Smart app or HP’s support site.
  • If the printer is unresponsive or frozen, you may need to perform a semi-full reset, which requires a specific key combination (I can help guide you through that if needed).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
