I'm going round in circles trying to add this printer to my HP account, that I'm about to throw it in the bin
Any ideas on how to bypass this error message, as I've started the set up process 10 times now and it refuses!

Hi @SWMC1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e. Error code UU 400 EB000A9900 can be frustrating.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and choose to reset the network settings. This will clear any saved Wi-Fi settings and allow you to start fresh.
Check Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve setup issues. You can check for updates on HP’s support site or through the printer's settings if it's connected to the internet.
Use HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Try using the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone to set up the printer. The app can sometimes handle setup issues better than the printer’s control panel. Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or your device’s app store.
Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network and that your network is functioning properly. You might also try reconnecting the printer to your network.
Power Cycle:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary issues.
Clear Printer Queue:
- If there are any pending print jobs or setup processes stuck in the queue, clear them. You can do this through the HP Smart app or your computer’s printer settings.
Factory Reset:
- As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings and return the printer to its original state. You can usually find this option in the printer’s settings menu.

I hope this helps.
