HP 5530 all in one printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have a HP 5530 All in one printer. It has a half used cartridge and has now decided the genuine ink is not compatible. I have updated drivers, cleaned many times. How do I bypass this error message, I live remotely, can not return the cartridge, need to print today for tax office. Can I bypass this nonsense? I have another new printer (not HP) that I haven't opened yet or purchased ink for, as this one was working fine. Should I persist with this one or is it one those short lived printers that just works for long enough to bare an excuse to feed the landfill pile, with a view that the lemmings will buy another one? And I am put back another day, have drive a 100 km round trip to buy printer ink for the new non HP, when this contraption should work.
