Bought a new HP Envy 6530e printer yesterday and during set-up (via USB) received critical system error - code 77.02.07.

Cannot install recommended HP firmware update (which according to other posts will solve the problem) as my printer is not connectable - not appearing as online on HP Smart even though USB connected and therefore cannot upload this firmware.

Despite trying to power off / reboot etc,  the printer is permanently stuck in a firmware upgrade loop due to the critical system error and I therefore cannot upload the fix as I cannot make contact via the USB printer cable.

I cannot download the firmware update onto a USB flash drive as the new printer does not have a suitable USB port

Help !!!

@TJProsser, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Power Cycle the Printer:

Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.

Wait for at least 10 minutes.

Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.

This process can sometimes reset the printer's firmware and resolve the issue.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Uninstall and Reinstall HP Software:

Uninstall any existing HP printer software from your computer.

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

Restart your computer.

Reinstall the latest HP printer drivers from the official HP website.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
