HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

I received an error message to replace a cartridge on my printer. It usually tells me which one. This time it did not. Since I was trying to print in black when I got the message. I replaced with an HP Black cartridge. I now get the message. "There is a problem with the printer or int system. Turn product off, then on. If problem persists contact HP." THe problem persisted after attempting to turn off, unplug, replug, turn on several times and running HP Smart and working with virtual assistant. On HP Smart the black cartridge displays with a dash mark surrounding the cartridge and does not show it as empty or full. I should show as full. Please advise. I am on WIndows 10 and my printer warranty is expired.

I tried another new cartridge and it solved the issue. Must have been a bad new cartridge.

Thank you for the suggestion! Were your lights flashing like mine? I've never seen this before! It would usually tell me when a cartridge needed to be replaced. Is there a certain cartridge that might cause this?
