I had the same issue pop up on my Mac today. I am running Catalina 10.15.6, followed your awe3some advice and it seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you!

Than kew! Barbiska!

Thanks Barbiska! This solution worked for me as well. I unplugged the printer late last night and plugged it back in this morning, then reconnected using System Preferences.

Glad you got your printers to work, guys. It seems that HP pulled printer certificates from Apple on Friday, and then overnight reversed this action. So I am not sure that my solution was legitimate, maybe it was just a fluke that it seemed to work, lol. See the article below.

Cheers!

Accepted solution worked for me. Thanks!

Weird- have 2 HP printers on our home network and it only effected the Officejet 6960

Thank you so much for posting the solution to this problem.

It is now all working.

Again many thanks for sharing

Yes, this is the solution I needed. Nothing worked after following all of your recommended steps until I deleted all of the old printer preferences in my MAC’s 'system preferences' and reset the Envy 7800 as my default printer.
