when my printer was brand new I would often see a flash on the display with a blue background (and an error code that wasn't there long enough to read) and then the printer went into a fault mode flashing all of the white icon lights on the front panel (similar to at least 10 other threads here on the support forum).  The remedy was to power down remove the power cable remove the ink cartridges etc. for me that did not fix it however it stopped going into this fault condition for a few years.  Now it's doing it again and again the power "drain" procedure does not work (and I'm out of warranty).  My assumption is that this has to be an intrinsic hardware issue that persisted across several of these Envy units that wasn't addressed.  I could use help again as this all-in-one printer is rendered useless when it goes into this fault condition.  Please address this HP.

@JimCSaratoga

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

And, also update printer firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the guidance.  Yes I’ve tried this established procedure numerous times and still am experiencing this fault.  Additionally the printer has been at the latest version of its firmware for some time now.  When I try to get support for the unit I end up going in a circle on the website and am not able to get any service support.   Respectfully this appears to be a known hardware issue with these printers.  How do I get the hardware swapped out ?  Thank you

@JimCSaratoga

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.

 I've tried multiple times to get through the website and it keeps looping back to the URL you listed above.  I've also tried calling 1-800-HP-INVENT and the extension the agent transferred me to asked if I wanted to receive a text with more information and disconnected.  I would hope that you would want to speak with your customers live and resolve their issues.  How do I speak with someone about this pervasive issue to get it resolved ?

And considering it did this when it was brand new and under warranty but HP would not replace it at the time AND given that there are at least 7 threads of this exact same issue that others have experienced to the point of class action I would like to have this printer replaced.
