I chose not to enroll in Instant Ink but instead purchased HP original cartridges online. I have now replaced the cartridges that came with the original purchase and am getting this error message: ."Reconnect to the Internet so that printer can automatically order replacement cartridges." I am connected to the internet, print command is OK but have been told by a third-party tech support firm that the print functionality is prevented by the HP server,. This issue developed one week after declining to enroll in Instant Ink. Every time I print, I have to click OK on the printer display before any document will print. This is unacceptable, frustrating and a terrible waste of my time.

Hi @DoubleMeadow,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're facing an issue with your HP printer displaying an error message related to reconnecting to the internet for automatic cartridge replacement. This issue could be due to various reasons, and it's unfortunate that you're experiencing inconvenience.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the internet. You can verify the connection by printing a network configuration page from the printer.
  • Make sure there are no issues with your internet service or network.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

Reset Printer:

  • Try resetting your printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Remove Third-Party Software:

  • If you've installed any third-party software related to the printer, consider uninstalling it. Sometimes, such software may interfere with the normal operation of the printer.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the replacement cartridges are correctly installed. Sometimes, an improper installation can lead to errors.

Disable Printer Notifications:

  • Go into your printer settings and disable any automatic notification or status update features that might be causing the pop-up message.

Revisit Instant Ink Settings:

  • Check your printer settings to ensure that there are no residual settings related to Instant Ink. Even if you declined to enroll, there might be some settings that need adjustment.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
