I am reading the request from Mgrbordorn above requesting Jeet send her the "advanced reset instructions."

I would like those advanced reset instructions as well.  I've done ALL of the "canned" support answers, unplugged the printer for many days, cleaned everything and nothing works to help "inform" the printer there IS NO PAPER JAM.  Worst, the printer touch screen is rendered useless AND I can't copy or scan ANYTHING AT ANY TIME, ONE PAGE AT A TIME OR OTHERWISE.  This error message leaves the printer only available to to print.

The printer software still is very good at forcing me to buy ink, however.   THAT part of the software continues to run.

I wonder if there is a spring catch broken or something else hardware related that causes this freakout every time the printer is turned on.  AND I WISH THE SOFTWARE WOULD PERMIT COPYING OR SCANNING WITHOUT USING THE ADF, ONE PAGE AT A TIME.    But it won't.

My HP All In One OfficeJet Pro 8620 had a false paper jam message that rendered my printer almost useless; it would print, but that's all.  I couldn't scan anything nor could I access the on-printer backlit touch panel for changing settings, etc.  I only had the ADF Paper Jam message which I could not make go away.

On that message was an "OK" button which, if I pressed it, caused a spring loaded action in my ADF that did nothing constructive and brought me back to the same message and took about a 1/2 second.

After spending weeks trying all the "canned" solutions, Jeet finally sent me a private message with instructions to institute a "reset" of my printer.  The instructions were clear with a nice graphic.  Unfortunately the instructions were not for my printer.  I had given him EVERY number he needed with model number etc., so wherever he is HP has not supplied him with accurate docs to work from.  When I informed him "that graphic is not of my priner" he suggested I call the paid support line.

Well, the instructions he gave me did seem to chart a path, even though for the wrong printer, and perhaps I could use them to solve my problem.  I did find a crazy way to get my touch panel to function so I could follow the instructions for doing the reset.  I don't recall EXACTLY what I did or what worked but it resembled my usual repeatedly pressing "0" when trapped in a voice mail loop to get to a human.

I pressed the "OK" on the panel over and over and raised the lid and after 6 or 7 or so rapid pressings and noisy repeated responses from the ADF my panel menu appeared!!  I was then able to access the Reset Menu and follow the instructions.  And now the printer works!  I had to install new ink cartridges and reinstall the printer software and some other nuisance actions but the printer is now working.  I hope it continues to.

Again, your printer may be different so proceed with caution, but HP's help desk may send you detailed instructions for YOUR computer that WILL NOT BE for your computer.

Below are Jeet's instructions.  The critical part was getting the touch panel to work so I could access the Reset Menu

@Richard_L,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you need assistance with printer related issues. Don't worry I'll be glad to help you.

Splendid effort and fabulous description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score.  You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What is the product number of the printer?Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Are you also referring to the same model which is OfficeJet 8625 printer or Is it different.

As I see you have already tried the steps suggested from the previous post and still having the issue. If you're using OfficeJet 8625, I'm sending you a private message with the instructions on how to perform a reset, the only reason why we're utilizing is because these instructions are specific to your printer model(Note: These instructions are specific to OfficeJet 8625 printer).

The private message instructions do not appear to apply to my OfficeJet Pro 8625.  The graphic supplied in the message is from some other printer.  Doing my best to follow them led me to a turned off computer and still no access to the instructions panel where I might access the "Reset" menu.  The message/instructions panel on my printer is rendered useless due to the false ADF paper jam error.

Standing by for the next iteration of this....
