Prior to updating my firmware this afternoon my printer was working fine. Then, once I updated it, suddenly the ink cartridges that I was using were not able to be used. Evidently the firmware update has blocked the use of third party cartridges. This is absurd. Is there any way to rollback the firmware? The virtual assistant suggested doing so as a fix to this issue, but I've seen HP employees respond to similar threads saying that this is not possible.

Hi @free2h8,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

What do you mean I "need to contact the cartridge manufacturer"? The cartridge worked fine to print in the afternoon before updating my firmware and then did not work in the evening after the firmware update. The only difference is the firmware.
Is it possible to rollback the firmware to a previous version?
