When trying to update the Security Firmware the update fails with an error code: 0XB81E688E.
Additionally, and prior to this attempt, I noticed on the display a message "The previous printer update was unsuccessful. Touch update to try updating again.
I touch the update with the same result.
Any ideas?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.
Let's start with a Printer Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed
Then try downloading the latest Firmware once again from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-4650-all-in-one-printer-seri...
Or
Use this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4650-all-in-one-printer-series/5447930/document/c0... to update the firmware.
You can also check for any available updates from the Printer control panel itself
1. From the printer control panel display, touch HP Printables.
2. Touch Enable Web Services.
3. Touch Accept to accept the Web Services terms of use and enable Web Services.
4. In the Auto Update screen, touch Yes to allow the printer to automatically check for and install product updates.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Firmware update fails officejet 4650 error code 0xb81e688e. Everything else works fine i.e printing, scanning etc. I've tried letting the firmware update automatically. powering the device off and on. I've tried downloading the firmware directly to my window 10 tablet and updating from there. Because of the continually failing I turned of the autoupdate on the printer.

Hello Sandy,
I am unable to update my firmware. It gives me an error and asks me to restart the printer and try the firmware again. But i keep getting the same message over and over again. Please let me know how to work this out.
