Hi all,

my printer is stuck in a boot loop.

The display show the HP logo and Energy Star logo with the loading bar below.

It then goes into a all white screen.

After chaning my router the printer was not found during installation of the hp printer software.

I turned the printer off and on to give it another try. The printer then showed a 79 Service Error.

No printerob was in the queue so I tried to turn the printer off and on again. Still got the 79 Service Error.

I then tried a hard reset which worked fine. I then tried to reinstall the software which did not work and i got the 79 service error. As this worked before I tried the hard reset again. And I am now in the boot loop described above.

Pushing the firmware via USB Cable did not work. I have the impression that I bricked the printer.

Going through google I found the hint to flash the firmware via USB. In oder to do this I would need the firmware with the file extention XXXX.bdl.

Is there any way to download this somewhere or to get it here somehow?

Thank you for your help.

Jeremias

Update: all cables were unplugged during hard reset.

I found the firmware in the ftp download area. But you were right this did not help at all. I must have missread what I found on the internet.

Is there any other suggestion how this can be fixed?

Update 2:

I found out that there is a jumper on the mainboard for firmware update. I opened the case and shorted the jumper.

Display is now showing "Ready 2 download".

However when I try to run the HP Firmware Updater tool in the display is shown "downloading" but the status bar in the printer display moves very fast and then tries to install and shows fatal error 7.

It then reboots and goes into "Ready 2 download" status.

Is there any suggestion how to push the firmware to the printer?

Thank you in advance

Jeremias

.bdl files are normally associated with Futuresmart 3 and 4 Enterprise products, Pro level products typically do not support this. Also if the unit will not come to ready then it is unlikely that you will be able to push the firmware, network or usb. For a pro product you might find a .rfu file which you can install over a printer share using a dos command but again, needs to at least be at ready. Did you have the network cable disconnected when trying to do the reset?

Hi repairtrooper,

Thank you for your answer.

There was no cable attached to the printer as it was used via WiFi only.

I tried to find the rfu file do you have any suggestions where to download it?

Update:

Or is there any suggestion how to fix this?
