HI

I currently have an issue with my printer. Every morning, there are three flashing orange lights plus the power light is flashing too.

If I press the power light and wait for a few minutes then everything goes back to normal for the rest of the day.

Next morning, it is back to flashing lights.

I have done a hard reset of the printer. The cartridges have good supply in them and were recently cleaned.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks,

Ben

Well I finally seem to have fixed this. After a lot of experimentation, I realised that my laptop turning on was triggering the problem, so I methodically removed any HP drivers and software. Getting rid of Print and Scan Doctor and HP Support Assistant seems to have sorted it out.

What an utter pain that was. HP software should not be causing this kind of issue !!!!

Hi @BennyBoyW,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Flashing orange lights on the HP DeskJet 2720e All-In-One Printer, along with the power light, typically indicate an error or issue with the printer. Here are a few possible explanations and steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Paper jam: Check if there is any paper stuck in the printer. Open the input tray, output tray, and the rear door (if applicable) to inspect for any jammed paper. If you find any, gently remove it and try printing again.
  • Ink cartridge issue: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Open the ink cartridge access door and verify if the cartridges are securely seated. If necessary, replace any empty or faulty cartridges.
  • Connectivity problems: If the printer is connected to a computer or network, check the cable connections or wireless connection to ensure they are secure. Restart both the printer and the computer or router to reset the connection.
  • Power issue: It's possible that the printer is experiencing a temporary power issue. Try unplugging the printer from the power source, waiting for a minute, and then plugging it back in. This can help reset the printer's internal components.
  • Firmware update: Visit the official HP support website and check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updating the firmware can resolve potential software-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi

Thank you for the response.

  • There is no paper jam - I checked that. The printer will print happily throughout the day but the next morning all the lights are flashing and I then need to press the power button once to get the printer to sort itself out again. Next morning - same problem
  • The ink has recently been replaced and supply is good
  • Network - I have tried a restart on the router and printer
  • I did a hard reset on the printer - unplugged, waited a minute and then plugged in again. Same issue happened the next morning
  • I'll check the firmware but I don't think there was any

Would it be adviseable to do a factory reset ?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi

I am out of support so this would cost money. I am going to go for a factory reset and hope for the best.

I did a factory reset and set up the printer again. I guess I will know tomorrow if this has worked.

If not then I am very tempted to ditch the printer and get another as this one has been nothing but trouble.
