Today I decided to test the HP ePrint feature on my Envy 7855 and I was pleased to say the least. However a few hours later while walking by I saw that all buttons on the printer were flashing. Power, help button at the same time, and then back with power. The screen itself looked like it had a bunch of power symbols all over and did not want to function. After turning it off and on I got it to work normally but I'm concerned that my printer (that literally just came out) is already about to go bad and I will have to deal with HP tech support instead of best buy.
Can someone explained what happened or if this issue will be addressed in a software update?

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that you have a new HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer by itself stopped working and the lights on the printer started to blink. However, the printer seems to be alrigth after you powered it down and restarted it. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
It is difficult to say why the printer acted like then when there was no issue. However, I suggest you to perform the following steps that should keep your printer fit and healthy as a horse:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
You may download and install the firmware update for the printer via this link. Please restart the printer once after the firmware is successfully installed.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Take care!

I have the same issue with Windows 10 64bit 10.0.15063.
Have updated the firmware from 5/17/17 to the latest.
Your support told me to try the Envy 7640 drivers and it didn't help.
Have done all of the disconnect cables/power steps you mention.
I get the 4 power symbols and the error message is attached here.

Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.
I see that your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer is not working. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I suggest you to perform a reset on the printer. I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.
I hope this helps. If the issue persists then please contact our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for the printer.
All the best! 🙂

Thanks got it.
Before you reset your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer, I suggest you to try performing a firmware update (only works on Windows operating system). The firmware can be downloaded and installed via this link.
Please restart the printer after the firmware update is successfully installed.
The reset steps provided earlier in the private message should work for this printer too. Is there no response when you touch the return arrow symbol 4 times?
Let me know. Thanks!

@CheersJeers and @jomiv
I suggest you to contact our HP phone support because the evidence points towards an internal failure with the printer. The printer doesn't seem to respond to any of the troubleshooting. The phone support team will check and let you know the available service options for your printers.
All the best!

I also have a Mac. I use the printer mostly for air printing. Now I have to call phone support and spend half a day on the phone to get a brand new printer to work?
