Hi @Henry209,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the flashing yellow light and the red "X" on your HP LaserJet M209dwe printer indicates an error that needs attention. Since replacing the ink cartridge did not resolve the issue, try the following steps to troubleshoot:
1. Verify the Ink Cartridge:
- Ensure you are using the correct and genuine HP toner cartridge compatible with the LaserJet M209dwe.
- Double-check that the cartridge is properly installed.
- Remove the cartridge, inspect it for protective tape or packaging left on the contacts, and then reinsert it securely.
2. Check for Paper Jam:
- Inspect the printer for any jammed paper, especially in the input tray, output bin, and toner area.
- Clear any debris or torn pieces of paper.
3. Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the error persists.
4. Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer has the latest firmware updates installed.
- Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Support website to check for updates.
5. Check the Wi-Fi Connection:
- The flashing yellow light next to the Wi-Fi icon might indicate a connectivity issue.
- Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
- Open the HP Smart app and follow the setup instructions.
- Alternatively, use the printer's Wireless Setup Wizard if available.
6. Perform a Factory Reset:
- Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons simultaneously for about 5-10 seconds.
- The printer will reset, and you may need to reconfigure the wireless settings.
7. Check for Specific Error Codes:
- Open the HP Smart app or printer software on your computer to see if it displays a specific error message or code.
- Use the error code to guide further troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
