I originally set up my Aunt's Envy 5000 printer with Instant Ink, but she has since passed away and I've given the printer to a friend who wants to continue to buy her own HP cartridges not via Instant Ink.

The printer is connected via a cable, not wireless and has been working fine until new HP cartridges were installed. It now demands connection to HP before printing anything.

I've cancelled the Instant Ink account, disabled Web Services and Wireless via the printer panel, but it continues to need connecting before printing.

Any ideas, please?

@Yewtrees, Welcome to HP Support Community!

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!

Hi. Thanks for your reply, a complete reset seems the best approach. I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions, though.

What/where are the TL, BL buttons, please? Would the "Restore factory defaults option" work?

Thanks

@Yewtrees

TL is the top left button and BL is the bottom left buttons on your display.

The home button is the TL

The return button is the BL

Hope this helps!

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you on this, but I'm afraid your instructions appear to be for a different printer.

Mine is an HP Envy 5032 which doesn't have the TL and BL buttons only the home. I've removed web services and anything else referring to networking, but it still insists on displaying "Connect" every time it's used, which is a pain.

Hi Jay_G24

Thanks for replying, but as I previously mentioned in this discussion, the HP 5032 doesn't have TL and BL buttons, only a "Home".

I want to use the printer via USB without any networking  or internet access and have disabled all networking options and web services, but the printer insists on me pressing "connect" every time before it will print. All this followed the installation of new cartridges having cancelled the ePrint contract.

Would a factory reset solve the problem? If so, how do I do this, please?

Thanks

Could you share an image of the cartridges you are using?

And the bottom left icon might not be visible, but if you look closely you will be able to see the return key.
