I have tried everything: resetting the printer to factory reset. Resetting my network. Reinstalling the (new) firmware. But every time i try to print it says 49 error and resets the printer. Any tips??
I am running Sequoia 15 on my macbook air.

Hi @pete008,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Update Firmware and Software:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is updated to the latest version. You've mentioned reinstalling new firmware, which is a good step. Double-check that it’s the latest version compatible with your printer model.
- Similarly, ensure your MacBook Air’s printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP Support website to download any available updates.
Check Print Jobs:
- Sometimes, corrupted print jobs can trigger a 49 error. Clear all pending print jobs in the print queue from your Mac and iPhone before attempting to print again.
Network Connection:
- Since you mentioned network issues with your iPhone, ensure that your printer is connected correctly to your Wi-Fi network.
- Check if the devices (MacBook and iPhone) are on the same network as the printer.
- Consider resetting network settings on the printer and reconfirm the settings on your devices.
Test Printing:
- Try printing a different document or a test page to see if the issue persists. Sometimes specific documents can cause issues.
Use a Direct Connection:
- Connect your printer directly to your Mac using a USB cable and try printing. This may help identify if the issue is network-related.
I hope this helps.
