Hp Officejet 5740 has a blue screen with an error message saying BAB1C454. I try unplugging the unit and then plugging it back. That don't seem to help. Any suggestions; anybody have a solution to the problem?

Hi @Jay5811,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code BAB1C454 on your HP OfficeJet 5740, along with the blue screen, indicates a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn Off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes.
- Plug Back In: Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Check for Jammed Paper or Foreign Objects
- Open the printer’s access areas (such as the paper tray, cartridge access area) and check for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be causing the issue. Carefully remove any obstructions.
3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings
- Access the Menu: Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the settings menu.
- Find Factory Reset: Look for an option related to restoring factory settings. This might be under Setup, Tools, or Maintenance.
- Perform Reset: Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer. Be aware that this will erase any custom settings or configurations.
4. Update Firmware
- Check Firmware Version: If you can access the printer's settings, check if there's an option to check for firmware updates.
- Download Updates: Visit the HP Support website and look for any available firmware updates for your OfficeJet 5740. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
5. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn Off and Disconnect: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait: Leave it unplugged for 5-10 minutes to allow any residual power to drain.
- Reconnect and Power On: Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
6. Check for Ink Cartridge Issues
- Remove and Reinstall Cartridges: Open the cartridge access area, remove the ink cartridges, and reinsert them. Ensure they are properly seated.
- Inspect Cartridges: Check for any damage or leakage in the cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
