Hi, I woul like some advice regarding the number of prints i am getting from my colour cartridges.

I have been printing a full page (A4) coloured image of the sea (mostly blue!) and I have been printing in 'best quality' so I do not expect to get the maximum yield as mentioned on the cartfidge package. (Ink cartridge 301 - yield 165 pages)

However, the last two tri-colour cartridges have printed less than 10 pages before the image prints horrible streaky and I get the message on my screen saying my ink is low!!!

Is my printer on it's way out?! Have I managed to end up with two dud cartidges in a row?! Anyone know what is going on?! It's a huge difference between 10 and 165 pages!!

Many thanks in advance. 🙂

The standard page yields are based on a set of five ISO Standard pages as described in the document here.

The five standard ISO pages

In your case you are printing near 100% coverage, I would not be surprised to see less than 10 full A4 pages.

One thing you might consider would be the HP Instant Ink program - this is a subscription program for a certain number of pages per month, ranging frrom 15 pages free to $9.99/month for 300 pages per month.  The "pages" count the ssame whether they are simple text pages of full page photo's.  The program advertises 50% savings over standard cartridges, the savings would be much higher if you are printing full page photos. See the document here for information on the Instant Ink program.  Your current printer is not eligible for the Instant Ink program, you would need a new printer.
