Hi @Skip1305,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've already tried the troubleshooting steps suggested by the HP chat support and are still seeing the "Missing or Failed Printhead" error, here are a few more advanced steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check the Printhead and Ink Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 60 seconds.
  • Open the printer and gently remove the ink cartridges and printhead.
  • Inspect the printhead for any visible damage, dirt, or debris. Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in distilled water. Let it dry thoroughly before reinserting it.
  • Check the ink cartridges to ensure they are installed correctly and not expired.

Clean the Printhead Contacts

  • Turn off the printer, then remove the printhead and cartridges.
  • Clean the contacts on both the printhead and inside the printer (where the printhead sits) using a soft cloth or cotton swab.
  • Let the contacts dry completely before reinserting the printhead and cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cable from the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes reset the printer's internal settings and resolve errors.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Make sure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check and update the firmware through the HP Smart app or the printer’s web interface (you may need to connect the printer to your network for this).

Try a New Printhead

  • If none of the above steps work and the printhead still fails to register, the printhead might be defective. You can try replacing it with a new one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
