HP Laserjet M209dw

This is getting unbearable, I have a building with 30+ Laserjet M209dw printers and they are not enrolled in instant ink. They are connected to wireless network. But anytime the toner hits the low mark, or a paper gets jammed, any reason for the system to alert, I clear the issue and yet the light stays red and the printer will only print a status page with the dreaded...

"A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved." The page can't be any more specific than "Log into your HP Smart account for more info" . However once logged in, the HP Smart can not give me any more info. The app is ridiculously unintuitive, every tab that I look at that I think will enlighten me as to the issue is obscure and points me to a different tab. Ultimately I end up running the troubleshooter which has yet in about 12 tries to actually find and fix any problem, and finally asks me to completely uninstall the printer and reinstall the drivers. Which I do, and that does not fix it either. I have without exception had to unregister the printer, factory reset it, and reregister it with HP Smart  all over again in order to restore printing. This includes setting it up from scratch, which is a serious pain in the tail BTW. There has to be a better way! Has anyone got any Idea how to get these systems to work as intended, rather than every problem turning into a set up like a new printer experience?
