My printer is printing gibberish at random times, in the middle of the night. It also printed a job that I didn't print. I changed the password thinking I was hacked. It probably is not possible since I changed the password again.  I have googled others having the issue with gibberish but usually they are trying to print something, this just prints random.

Hi @Gibberish,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers

I understand that you are in need of support.

No worries, I'll be glad to help you.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

However, update the firmware using the below link:

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Raj1788,

I did as you suggested and and hopeful this will work. The gibberish is random and often happens at night when I am just watching tv or not doing anything special. I will have to wait a week to see if 'nothing random' prints to know for sure that it worked and all is good. I will keep you posted. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi,

allow me to help you. 🙂

I suggest to perform a reset on this printer. The reset will restore the printer completely back to its original factory condition.

I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.

Cheers! 🙂
