Hi again Betty

It cut off and failed to download with just 9 minutes to go. I even went into the hall where we have free communal wi-fi for our apartments for a better signal. It just disappeared without me touching it !

I'll try a second time.

Sure, let us know 🙂

Hi Betty

I've been out for a couple of hours.

I tried to open it up and I received a message saying 'This package is not intended for Windows 7 64 bit' .... so I pressed ok and nothing happened.

Alas ..... Any other solutions from you brilliant HP people please?

Many thanks

Kindly

Adrian 🙂

Hello again Betty

I looked further down the page and followed further instructions to load the Windows provided drivers, but the 2nd option, not the best one.

I actually found HP Officejet 7200 series (I have a HO 7210 All-In-One) so followed the instructions. It failed to download the drivers and then, guess what? ..... I realised that I'm out of ink and had ordered new ink a couple of days ago. That should arrive tomorrow the 10th or Thursday the 11th.

I'll wait for the ink to arrive and then continue.

Please very kindly leave this case 'Open'

Many thanks

My kind regards

Adrian

Hi Betty

I'm still waiting for the ink and it's been a number of days since my original post so I want to remind you of thiese points which may help you finding drivers for me.

1). I bought my printer when I was living in the U.S.A.

2). I returned to London, England, a couple of years later and paid H.P. to help me over the phone 'convert' my printer to the U.K. protocol as it wouldn't work here. I do remember it was a series of letters and numbers and then the numbers of the print cartridges were different too.

3). I still have the original C.D. but I understand this is just the software and I need the drivers loaded which I had before we started this a few days ago.

Take care

Many thanks

Adrian

P.S. Betty

I do still have some folders containing files in my recycle box. Perhaps one of these will contain the drivers I was told to uninstall? 🙂

Would any of these contain the drivers which I was told to uninstal please? :)Would any of these contain the drivers which I was told to uninstal please? 🙂

@Redheadguy10

Thanks for trying those steps. I'd suggest try adding the 990c printer driver and check -

1.    On your keyboard press both the Windows key and R key together.
2.    In the window that opens, type in the words "Control Printers" and then click OK. This will open the Devices and Printers window.
3.    Right click on your printer and select Printer properties.
4.    In the new window, make sure you are viewing the Ports tab, if not then click on Ports at the top. In the Ports tab, locate the name of the port that is currently checked. Write the name of this port on a piece of paper as we will need it later on. When you are done, close this window.
5.    Back in the Devices and Printers window, click on Add a printer at the top of the window.
6.    In the window that opens, click The printer that I want isn't listed.
7.    Click on Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings. Click Next.
8.    Click on Windows Update.
9.    Once the Windows Update is done, click on HP under Manufacturer and click on HP Deskjet 990c under Printers. Click Next.
10.    Give the printer a name.
11.    On the next window, make sure Do not share this printer is checked. Click Next.
12.    Leave the Set as the default printer option unchecked. Click Finish.

Keep me posted.

Hello Asmita

The ink hasn't arrived yet (not sure that will make a difference though)

I have to go out for 3-4 hours now.

I'll try the suggested steps you've just mentioned when I return.

I've had two Windows Updates since I last messaged but the drivers still don't install.

If you're a different person to Betty, please read all my postings (I bought the printer when I was living in Los Angeles. returned to the UK in 2008 and paid H.P. £40 to go through the steps with me on how to make the printer work with UK protocols. So perhaps the USA number on the machine is different to the UK version and perhaps the drivers are different too?).

I was very apprehensive about deleting them but was assured I should go ahead.

I've only ever used authentic H.P. ink and calculate that since 2003 have probably spent nearly $10,000 on ink alone!

Is there a way to send you good people a message privately and not in public please?

Take care

My kind regards

Adrian
