H.P. Officejet 7210 All-in-one
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello good and valuable friends.

I have an old 2003 H.P. Officejet 7210 All-in-one printer which is running on my Lenovo G575 Windows 7 operating system.

Clearly, it's all old (as am I 🙂 ..... I bought the printer when I was living in Los Angeles in 2003 so it may be an old issue.

When I returned to London from L.A. in 2008 I paid H.P. £40 for online help to convert my U.S. system to the right protocol for U.K. printing.

A number of months ago, whenever I either turn on my computer (as the H.P. software is programmed to start up with the laptop) or when I start up the actual printer for printing or scanning, the message "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'SolutionsCener' disk and click OK.

Clearly, I'm not computer literate and this is an old bug, but would some kind person be able to explain to me how to resolve this issue please? Please speak to me with easy instructions as you would a 6 year old (although a six year old would probably sort it out quicker than me!!!)

Many thanks all !!

Adrian

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Dear Betty

Thanking you so very kindly for your reply. I see that you actually work for H.P.?

I will do exactly as you said but I left something out in my original posting.

Previously, I've seen tech people saying H.P. didn't include 'Active X' (whatever that is! 🙂 in an upgrade and so the problem persists.

I do still have the original H.P. Installation C.D. but I'm concerned that if I do uninstall the printer I won't be able to get it working again.

Can you please assure me that this will work and that 'Active X' exclusion will not be a problem when I follow your instructions?

Thank goodness I'm not an utter idiot in other areas in my life !!!

I'll wait for your response before I do anything.

My kind regards

Adrian

Dear Betty

Many thanks for those easy instructions but over the course of several attempts I found it to be more of a Root Canal, than Root Uninstall!! 🙂

1). Anyways, I've restarted and emptied all H.P. folders etc however 2 programmes have remained. One is an H.P. Product Detection from 05/08/2012 and the the other is an H.P. Update from 08/12/2014. ***Should I delete those as well please?

2). What do I do now please? Do I connect the printer USB cable and try to find software on your site please?

Many thanks once again

My kind regards

Adrian

You can keep those files. Please download and install the software first. When the Computer prompts you to connect the USB cable, please do so.

Let me know 🙂

Hello again Betty

I missed the link you supplied. I tried to load drivers etc but it turns out that my printer is no longer supported.

My title and primary content say that it was purchased in 2003 as I was concerned with this issue and asked you to confirm (knowing the age of the printer) whether this will work.

Do you have any suggestions please as I'm sure you'll be aware that my printer is no longer supported.

Hoping you do.

My kind regards

Adrian

Download and install the following Full Feature Software to use the Officejet 7210:

P.S. The Device Driver Software wouldn't download. None of the options for my printer came up and I read further to realise it's no longer supported.

I clicked 'enter' after the full title of my printer name 'HP Inkjet All-In-One' (but only Samsung printers came up), I them just clicked 'submit' after my printer name, the computer connected, tried to download something but I received an error message to say it failed to download.

Any further thoughts please Betty?

Take care

regards

Adrian
