Hi,

As an earlier thread during 2013-2015 I found is claimed to be closed, I'm reopening it as I still can't find sensible solution. The provided link in the earlier thread:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.BINARYPORTLET/public/kb/docDisplay/resource.proc...

redirects to:

https://support.hp.com/us-en.

No direct instructions there, so tried to search the same topic there but no avail.

Lots of comments in this thread that you need to pull from grey paper aligners. Tried that but the tray stays locked (almost yanked the whole printer off the shelf!).

Finally turned the printer on its side and saw the locking tabs. The only way I found was to force them one-by-one with a screw driver to let the tray counterparts pass the tabs and get the tray out. See attached photo!

My paper stock is in a different room than my printer => I want to bring Moses (paper tray) to the mountain (paper stock) rather than the other way around. There must be an easy way and simple graphic instruction how to do this without tools! Please share it and include it in the manuals (I've gone through Setup Poster, User Guide and Reference Guide - links provided by HP Utility App for Mac) and none of them even touches this topic.

Please give clear instructions supported by photos,   Mika

Hi @MikaMakinen,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you wanted to know if you can remove the paper tray from your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One.

You cannot remove the paper tray for this unit.

Hello, @MikaMakinen – Hope you are well 🙂

I read your post about the printer issue and wanted to stop in to share my suggestions with you 🙂

I see that you are having issues difficulty in taking the tray out.

I understand that you were unable to get the user guide and the setup poster which was suggested in the other thread you mentioned.

Please check the user guide here: http://hp.care/2o2kTfG See the page 26 - 28

Let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

Dear DVortex!

Sorry for the late response - it's been a busy Summer and I've been out of country quite a bit. I just went through pages 26-28 and found only the loading of the paper when the tray is in the printer. That's not the problem. The issue - as in the thread I mentioned - is that I (and others) want to remove the tray and bring it to the storage where the paper is and load the tray there, instead of carrying the wobbly paper pile to the printer.

Thus, this time the mountain should come to Moses. How can we do it?

Thanks in advance and will try to respond faster next time,   Mika

Just be careful when applying as it might be possible to break off the tabs ,if too much pressure is used. If the tabs break your paper tray will not lock back in place and the tray could possibly move when the printer pulls the paper. which could result in a " Out of Paper"   message
