Laaserjet 1100
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After changing cartridge with new HP 92A, developed streaks on both sides of printed paper.  After changing to a second 92A, the vertical bar remains on the printed side of the paper, about 1/2 inch wide and 1+ inches from left border.

It is possible that the fuser has failed on the printer, this is the part that bonds the toner to the page. If the defect section rubs easily off the page that is a sign that you have fuser problems. Does the defect go away if you put the original cartridge in the printer?

This strip is also evident on the roller inside the cartridge.

Check the roller under the cartridge, it is called the transfer roller and there might be something on it.

If you have exactly the same place and wide steaks after two cartridges changed then it is the fuser's problem and if  it's not then you have two  bad toner cartridges.

It seems like that you have two bad toner cartridges.

Try another known good one and never buy any OEM one because HP has stopped C4092A for many many years so any one  you can get from the market is old enough and doesn't have any chance to be good. Use 3rd party's.

Had checked the transfer roller as first thought.  Thought it might have been damaged on cartridge replacement.  Removed and looks good (other than a little sticky where shaft attaches.  Doesn't seem to be any buildup of toner on that roller.  thanks anyway...all options will be reviewed.   Tom

Have aftermarket in the USPS from a third party ink supplier.   Thanks.

P.S.  where is the fuser located?  Hard to get at?  Any chance that a gob of toner has been deposited near it?
