HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

This is an ongoing issue for about 6 months.  Our HP 1102w used to work seamlessly with our two macbook pros and our imac.  Then it didn't.  We have the error that the printer is offline.  We can still use the printer via a cable, except no way to do this with the imac unless we buy a 100 foot cable.

I downloaded a new driver for mac today (dated Aug 2022), went on System Preferences, added the laserjet and opened options & supplies.  When I click on utilities and say "open printer utility", nothing happens.

I printed a device configuration page and it says:

Network Information

Status = Not connected

Direct Print Configuration

Direct Print = Off

I have no clue how to connect the printer to our network.  HP seems to only wish to support Windows users.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign and then delete the printer.

Click the Plus sign and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
