Hi @PDR3

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x011A17FF DOT11_PRIVATE on your HP printer indicates a specific issue that is often related to connectivity or printer hardware. The fact that you can’t move the cartridge carrier and are seeing this error suggests there might be an issue with the printer's internal components or settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.

Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait 60 Seconds:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for about a minute.

Plug It Back In:

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

2. Check for Paper Jams

Open All Access Doors:

  • Check the front, rear, and any other access points on the printer.

Remove Any Jammed Paper:

  • Carefully remove any paper or debris found inside.

Inspect Paper Path:

  • Make sure there are no small bits of paper or foreign objects obstructing the paper path.

3. Inspect and Reinstall Cartridges

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • If the printer is on, turn it off and unplug it.

Open the Cartridge Access Door:

  • Remove the ink or toner cartridges.

Inspect Cartridges and Carrier:

  • Check for any obstructions or issues with the cartridge carrier. Make sure there are no visible damages.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they are properly seated.

Close the Access Door:

  • Close the cartridge access door securely.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

Factory Reset:

  • Access the printer’s settings menu and look for an option to perform a factory reset. This might be labeled as Restore Defaults or Factory Reset.

Confirm the Reset:

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to reset the printer to its default settings.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.

Download and Install Updates:

  • Follow the instructions to download and install the latest firmware for your printer.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

Inspect Internal Components:

  • If you’re comfortable doing so, carefully inspect internal components such as the cartridge carrier for any visible issues.

Check Printer Manual:

  • Refer to the printer’s manual for any specific troubleshooting related to the error code you’re seeing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel thank you for your reply, sadly we've tried most of the solutions, the actual probe goes back I think to around two years ago, I thought HP might have resolved it by now, but to answer your suggestions specifically -

1. yes tried the power cycle no change.

2. yes checked for paper jams, nothing

3. this is where it stops, part of the problem is the carriage that holds the cartridge's is stuck in the covered position, i.e. at its parked position, so its impossible to remove the cartridges as the carriage doesn't centre, so we cannot remove or re-install the cartridges.

4. HP OFFICEJET 200 "Mobile" printer series doesn't carry a factory or other reset option in the, the only option is the generic hard reset of taking the battery out etc, which doesn't reset the printer.

5. you can't update the firmware as the error signal comes up straight after the printer has started, once that error signal is up the computer cannot talk to the printer so no firmware or other update can be done.

6. have done nothing visible.

7. user manual doesn't cover this error code.

so sadly another HP mobile printer ends it life in the recycling bin, along with another five this year, these printers need to be a little more robust if they are to be used in a mobile environment.

Rachel thanks for your time, it was a long shot.

Hi Rachel,

I am having the same error as the user in this thread.  I thought for the purpose of saving time I would jump in on this conversation.

Thanks
