I'm not using the wireless feature.

 

I've only had the printer a few weeks, so the driver's are up-to-date.

 

I would struggle to believe that it's an ink issue as it prints out PDF's just fine. Although with Word, it is printing the colour aspects of the document, just not the black text.

 

I spent a few hours on Saturday, going through FAQ's, the HP Smart app, troubleshooting cleaning heads, aligning them and there was something to do with cleaning or resetting but I can't remember what it was called. But everything it was printing came out fine.

 

I've wasted loads of ink and paper trying to fix this thing and I'm tempted to send it back rather than waste any more of my time or money repairing it - it's brand new!

 

Hopefully someone here can help me resolve it swiftly.

Hi,

I would suspect the black ink cartridge to have an issue.

 

Please print a Printer Status Report as shown below:

Can you clearly see the printed text with Black ink, or may you see any missing or cut black ink printout?

 

May you include a scan picture of the printed report through a private message?

 

And it is unlikley you should not need to spend money on a new cartridge, you would likely be able to get a replacement cartridge if required by contacting HP Support.

 

Please share the printed report with me and I will guide you further accordingly.

Hey Shlomil,

 

Thanks for the quick response.

 

I printed the status report but there's not a lot to see, other than the ink levels. The colour printed out correctly but the black was missing, there was no text either.

 

But it printed a PDF perfectly the other day - I initially thought all the maintenance I performed on the printer fixed it but obviously not. 

 

I'll attach the scan anyway:

P.S. The black ink levels are not empty in the status report because there's no ink. It's low, I'd estimate 25-30% but it still has ink.

I assume the black ink level is high.

 

As you already cleaned the cartridges from the software, I suggest contacting HP Support in your country to get a replacement cartridge.
