I am the IT tech at a non profit and we have several printers with this error code. I have replaced multiple parts in an effort to solve this problem but have not been successful, I have replaced SR17 sensors, done the solenoid fix, and fuser drive assembly. Also tried updating firmware, different fusers, and different ink.

When the printer is turned on there is a short grinding sound, like a gear that isn't set correctly and is missing teeth. The printer is sometimes able to print an almost flawless test page but immediately throws the error again. I've not been able to identify where the sound is coming from, previously thought fuser drive assy but after replacing it the sound and error remained. I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what that sound might be and how I might fix it, hopefully clearing the error code and allowing the printers to function again.\

Thanks for any help

I have seen this situation with an M5525, this is an A3 model but same design and it turned out to be the main drive gears were worn down to nothing. In my case it was on the fuser side of the printer. (left side if you are standing at the back of the printer. Hard to see without removing almost everything from the back of the printer.

Agree with RepairaTrooper, main drive assembly is the cause of noise.
