Hi @Kbissueraise,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Deskjet 3545 is stuck on the alignment page after installing new cartridges, and it won’t allow printing or scanning. Let’s go through a few steps to resolve this.

1. Complete the Alignment Process

When the printer prints an alignment page, place that page face-down on the scanner glass (check the corner guides).

Press OK on the printer control panel to let it scan the page.

This step is mandatory, if skipped, the printer will stay stuck.

2. Clean the Scanner Glass

If the alignment page is not detected, gently clean the scanner glass and the white backing strip with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner.

Any smudge or dust can prevent the printer from reading the alignment page properly.

3. Reset the Printer

With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back.

Unplug it from the wall outlet, wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect.

Power on the printer and check if it prompts for alignment again.

4. Run Alignment from Printer Menu

On the printer panel, go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer.

This will print a fresh alignment page and let you retry the process.

5. Update Printer Firmware

Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and install the latest firmware update.

Outdated firmware can sometimes cause alignment loops.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi,

As per first step mentioned, I don’t see OK option and only cancel is present. Also it gets freezed even when pressing cancel button.

Hi @Kbissueraise

Thank you for updating us.
If the printer freezes and doesn’t display the OK option after printing the alignment page, it usually points to either a scanner detection issue or a firmware/software glitch.

Let’s try these steps:

1. Power Reset

With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

Unplug the cord from the wall socket as well.

Wait for at least 60 seconds.

Plug it back into the wall outlet first, then into the printer.

Turn the printer back on and see if it responds.

2. Clean the Scanner Area

If the alignment page cannot be scanned, the printer gets stuck in the loop.

Lift the scanner lid and gently clean the scanner glass and the white backing strip using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with glass cleaner (avoid spraying directly on the glass).

Make sure there’s no dust, smudges, or tape residue.

Retry placing the alignment page face-down according to the guides.

3. Try Forcing the Alignment via Printer Menu

If the panel responds after the reset:

Go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer.

Allow it to print a fresh alignment page.

Place that page on the scanner and see if it completes the process.

4. Check Cartridges

Sometimes non-detected or poorly seated cartridges can keep the printer stuck.

Power off the printer.

Remove both cartridges, check that all protective tapes are removed, and gently wipe the copper contacts with a dry lint-free cloth.

Reinsert them until they click firmly in place.

5. Update Firmware (If Accessible)

If the printer becomes responsive, go to HP Support – Drivers & Downloads and check for any firmware updates for your HP DeskJet 3545.
Install it on the printer via USB or Wi-Fi as guided.

I hope this helps.
