I have just installed a new HP4101 LaserJet printer on a Windows 2019 machine we use as a print server.  I installed it and changed the port to the IP address assigned to the printer.  I can print a test page from the server fine.  I can print from my machine ( a test page and a document).  The user whose office it is in can not print. to it  The printer installs, and shows as ready.  When you initiate a print job, it appears to print but the printer never receives the job.  I have restarted the computer, the printer, and the print server.  Any suggestions?

Hi @Kendall_Eley,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the printer's connection or configuration specific to the user's computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Printer Sharing Settings: Ensure that printer sharing is enabled on the print server and that the user has the necessary permissions to access the printer.
  • Driver Installation: Confirm that the correct printer drivers are installed on the user's computer. Sometimes, using the wrong or outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
  • Restart Print Spooler Service: On the user's computer, try restarting the Print Spooler service. This can often resolve printing issues caused by print spooler errors.
  • Check Printer Queue: Check the printer queue on the user's computer to see if there are any stuck print jobs. If there are, try deleting them and then try printing again.
  • Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Check the firewall and antivirus settings on the user's computer to ensure that they are not blocking communication with the printer.
  • Network Connection: Verify that the user's computer is properly connected to the network and that it can communicate with the print server and the printer.
  • Printer IP Address: Double-check that the IP address assigned to the printer hasn't changed and that it matches the IP address configured on the user's computer.
  • Update Windows and Printer Firmware: Ensure that both the user's computer and the printer have the latest updates installed, including Windows updates and any firmware updates for the printer.
  • Try Different Applications: Sometimes, printing issues can be application-specific. Try printing from different applications to see if the problem persists.
  • Reinstall Printer: As a last resort, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the printer on the user's computer to ensure a clean installation.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing the user from printing to the HP4101 LaserJet printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
