Hi, I'm using an HP MFP 4301DW printer. Every time i go to scan recently, I get an error message that says "Scanner in use". The scanner used to work before, but I'm not sure when this problem began. Perhaps in the last month. 

Steps I've taken so far:

  • Restart printer. powered off, unplugged, waited 60 sec. 
  • Restarted PC
  • Restarted routers, etc. 
  • Firmware is up to do date
  • cleared all jobs on printer
  • removed printer from HP app, and re added
  • nothing jammed in scanner tray
  • Tried HP smart app, and regular scan app with PC. 
  • HP smart trouble shooter says all is OK
  • There was another option on line for trouble shooting. It allowed printer trouble shooting, but scanner was greyed out
