Really has me stumped... have 3 separate 4700n printers (love these machines - wish they continued the line!). They are not on a network, connected directly to MacBooks. We print letters and matching envelopes once a week. Printer completed letters, will not print envelopes. Error code '20 insufficient memory' on printer screen. Tried a different printer - same error code suddenly appears - reset memory, swapped out memory boards. same error code, Used different MacBook - same error code. All worked fine yesterday - this is sudden. Gets better - only happens with the letter files - MS Office 2019 Word - same letter files been using for years. Will print other docs, suddenly NOT these letters - and it is an error code on the printer. Not sure what the error code means, yet tried eliminating possibilities and never saw the code before, and now on all three machines.

This error is generated when a print job is too complex for the amount of on board memory. You can reduce resolution or add memory, but I would also ensure that the firmware is up to date. In some cases a factory restore can resolve issues due to corrupted os of the printer.

Thank you for your kind response. The file(s) we are printing are the EXACT same files we have used for years. Nothing changed - Sunday the printing was fine, Monday received error message. Yes, did a factory reset. Updated firmware does not appear to be available?

Perhaps an update to office has introduced an increased memory requirement?

Hi
You can also try shut down of printer, take cabble off and try to turn on 2 times. After that, put back cable and turn on printer. Sometimes some job will stay in printer memmory and this will help to clear that.
