My HP Officejet 6700 Premium has given me error message Ox61011bed. It also keeps saying that I've turned the printer off incorrectly even when I used the power switch. Sometimes when I do use the power switch, it takes a long time to turn off.
Here's what I've tried:
-I've checked for obstructions in the carriage area. No obstructions.
-I've done a hard reset, unplugging the printer from everything while it's on, waiting 60 seconds, plugging everything back in, and then turning the printer on. Nothing changes -- the problem comes right back.
Here's some things that have been mentioned that I haven't been able to try:
-Remove and replace the ink cartridges. The carriage won't stop in the center. When I open the door, it just goes back and forth a lot, ending up at the sides. (For a while after giving me the error message, the cartridge did stop in the middle, but that was because it needed ink. Replacing the needed cartridges appeared to have no effect on the error message.)
-Update the firmware. I'd like to do this on the printer itself, but can't find something in the menus that would trigger it. (I'd like to do an update on the printer itself because there may be something weird about the way my Mac communicates with the printer.)
Thank you!

Can anyone help with this? I tried reaching support and gather that the printer is out of warranty, but I'd really rather fix it than throw it away, thus contributing to electronic waste. And then I'll have to get some other kind of printer.
The problem seems only connected to printing -- I was able to use the printer to scan something yesterday.
It sounds like a lot of other people have had similar problems, including the carriage going back and forth when you follow the suggestion to remove and replace the ink cartridges. I'd also like to try updating the firmware, preferably via the printer itself, but the menus don't resemble those mentioned in some links I've seen. Maybe you can't do that on this printer? The model number is H711n.
Thank you!

@GPhiker, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this issue. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.
A 0x error indicates a hardware issue with the printer. Are you able to bypass this error and access the home screen of the printer?
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.
Now, try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue. If the printer makes a copy, the hardware is fine.
If the printer is stuck on this screen and the error, I'm afraid we cannot perform any troubleshooting steps.
To know how to update the printer firmware from the printer screen, refer to page 27 of the user guide
If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Hi KUMAR0307,
Thank you for your response. I tried both methods of resetting the printer and the problem remained.
>>>In that case, do you think updating the firmware might make any difference, or not?<<<
The reason I ask is that Web Services is not enabled on my printer; that appears to be why I can't find the "product updates" in the menus. I'm not sure why Web Services isn't enabled. It may have something to do with an earlier version of my WiFi having a greater speed than the printer can handle. Prior to the current 0x61011bed problem, I could print things out wirelessly, but I think a technician helping me with an internet issue may have fixed things up so my computer talks to the router which then talks to the printer via the Ethernet connection. Or something like that.
Is the original disk necessary to enable Web Services, or is there some other way to do that? (I'm not sure where my original disk is. Also the CD slot on my laptop likes to retain disks...) >>>But if you think updating the firmware would help, I can try to do it. If not, I will look for another printer of some sort.<<<
Thanks again!

This model printer is not listed under the affected printers, refer to - Web Services Stop Working
No, the original disk is not required to update the printer firmware. Updating the firmware may fix any bugs in the printer software. It may or may not resolve this issue.
Have you tried enabling web services on the printer? Refer to page 69 of the user guide to know how to do it.
If you are not able to enable web services and update the firmware, you may have to contact the HP Support team for further assistance.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. When I try to enable Web Services from the printer itself, it says "Web Services (ePrint and Apps) could not be enabled." I don't know why -- as far as I know, the printer is connected to the internet via Ethernet.
On my Mac, when I try to use (what I take to be) the Embedded Web Server to enable Web Services, it goes through the steps and then says "Web Services is not enabled." Maybe something is off about the way the printer is connected to the internet. Or maybe I have to do something with Proxy settings, but I don't know what that is.
I also found a utility called "HP Firmware Updater" on my computer, but when I try to use it, it says that "firmware updates are not yet available for your device." But maybe that's because Web Services aren't activated.
So I may indeed have to contact the HP Support team, but am not sure what they would do for an out-of-warranty printer or how much it would cost.
Thanks again.

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac and check if this helps.
If not, yes, you will have to contact the regional HP Support team for assistance via a remote session.
As the printer is out of warranty, it will be a paid service. You may also check if there is an option for a refund in case the issue is not fixed.
If you do not wish to pay for the service, I suggest you upgrade the printer.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
