i have an HP 6970 manufactured in 2017, but not used at all until April 2020.

All has been working well until today - i have replaced the black cartridge with a new genuine HP cartridge as the old one was getting low on ink. 

No error messages.

Colour works ok.

Test page prints C, M, Y but no K.

I had just copied a page by placing the page to be copied on the glass screen; this printed fine, but the machine would not print out the next page to be copied. I cannot print anything from Word in black.

I have uninstalled the printer, reinstalled it, set the printer to factory default. cleaned the print-head, turned the printer off and on again, turned the laptop off and on, all to no avail.

Thanks in advance of any advice.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Thank you for the reply.

I have tried everything suggested in all the HP documents, but nothing has changed. I believe it is a hardware failure, but the warranty has expired so unfortunately i cannot get any assistance that way.
